CCL Industries, a global leader in specialty label, security, and packaging solutions, has announced its plans to establish a new production facility in Novi Ligure, a city in northern Italy.

This facility will primarily serve the Spirits & Beverage industry in northern Italy. It will be the second Italian site for CCL Food & Beverage, following the acquisition of a pouch production plant earlier this year (CCL Acquires Pouch Production from Capri-Sun Group – CCL Label). The pouch production plant specializes in manufacturing highly-specialized, gravure printed and laminated, flexible film materials used for pouch forming, including recyclable solutions.

Reinhard Streit, the Vice President and Managing Director of Food & Beverage, expressed his satisfaction with the expansion in Italy, a country home to world-renowned brands. Streit emphasized the potential in the wine and spirits industry and other beverage sectors, where CCL’s premium and highly-embellished labels are an ideal fit. This expansion aligns with CCL’s strategy of having a production site in close proximity to its global brand customers, who are often multinational, enabling local supply.

CCL will manufacture premium Pressure-Sensitive Labels adorned with high embellishments, typically used in the wine and spirits industry. Streit added, “From holographic features to unique label design layered with embellishments to personalized or interactive labeling – we have the capabilities to create labels that will help our customers’ products stand out on the sales shelf. Effective and high-end labeling can be a game changer in driving sales and generating excitement around products.”

The new production site will showcase the state-of-the-art design seen in CCL Food & Beverage plants worldwide, including an innovative art department with a printing ink kitchen. Additionally, the building itself will incorporate energy-efficient and renewable features, such as solar panels and the latest air filtering and air conditioning technology.

CCL has acquired a 4,000 square meter site, which will undergo full refurbishment starting in September 2023. Production is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2024.
