With the implementation of Simpler Recycling set for 31 March 2026, this new legislation aims to improve recycling rates significantly. It requires that dry materials—such as glass, metal, and plastic—be collected separately from card and paper, food and garden waste, and general refuse. Furthermore, Simpler Recycling mandates that local authorities deliver clear, comprehensive information to households regarding what can and cannot be recycled.
Alupro’s innovative online toolkit—Simply Love Your Recycling!—clarifies what materials are eligible for kerbside collection and offers guidance on how to prepare packaging for recycling effectively. By addressing common misconceptions, these resources aim to inspire behavioral changes that will prevent valuable food and drink packaging materials from ending up in landfills.
Residents will quickly grasp best practices, including rinsing and scrunching wrapping foil prior to placement in recycling bins, as well as leaving metal screw caps on empty bottles for efficient recycling.
