In 2021, the site commemorated its 60th anniversary, and there has been a significant investment of £28m [$34m] in the factory. This investment underscores CCEP’s steadfast commitment to incorporating the latest advancements in manufacturing innovation. The highlight of this investment is the addition of a new production line, capable of churning out an impressive 2,000 cans per minute.
The new line will greatly bolster the production of renowned Coca-Cola brands, including Coca-Cola original taste, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Dr Pepper, Sprite, and Schweppes.
The inauguration of the state-of-the-art canning line witnessed the presence of Louie French, MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup. Mr. French met with CCEP’s General Manager, Stephen Moorhouse, VP for Customer Service and Supply Chain, Javier Gandarias Sanchez, as well as the site’s operations director, Karl Probert and the diligent workforce on the factory floor.
Stephen Moorhouse, Vice-President and General Manager of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (GB), affirmed, “For over 60 years, we have played an integral role in the Sidcup community, and we take pride in our team’s unwavering commitment to driving manufacturing innovations. We have injected nearly £120m [$146m] into the factory since 2017, bolstering the local economy and hastening our path to achieving net zero emissions.”
The Sidcup site is currently home to approximately 400 employees. As the world’s largest independent bottler of Coca-Cola, CCEP is deeply committed to cultivating a diverse workforce and upholding its ‘Everyone is Welcome’ ethos. This mindset encourages women and individuals who may not have previously considered a career in manufacturing to pursue opportunities within the industry. The recruitment practices at the site prioritize skills and aptitude over historical qualifications alone, while offering flexible working options that cater to various lifestyles.
The Sidcup site has also played a pivotal role in supporting 21 apprentices through its career builder and early careers programs.
