Britvic Ireland and Flogas Enterprise have teamed up to bring a new Customer Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) to the Irish market. This groundbreaking initiative will allow Ballygowan, Ireland’s iconic water brand, to be produced using 100% renewable wind energy. This is the first CPPA of its kind in Ireland involving a drinks brand.

The CPPA agreement enables Britvic Ireland to support energy generation at the Sonnagh Old Wind Farm in County Galway. This will produce enough energy to power the Ballygowan production facility in Newcastle West Co. Limerick and 75% of Britvic Ireland’s annual electricity needs. Newcastle West is home to Ballygowan Natural Mineral Water and boasts one of the highest levels of renewable energy use among all Britvic factories globally.

This innovative agreement reinforces Britvic Ireland’s ongoing commitment to sustainability across all areas of its operations and at executive level. The company is excited to have recently appointed individuals such as Sian Young as Director of Sustainable Business and Orlagh Geraghty as Head of Planet, highlighting the importance of sustainability in decision-making processes.

According to Sian Young, “Ballygowan has a long history of delivering sustainable, locally-produced Irish mineral water. This CPPA agreement with Flogas Enterprise marks a significant milestone for Britvic Ireland, in our long-term strategy to ensure 100% sustainability across the business.”

Flogas Enterprise is a leading provider of energy solutions focusing on sustainable practices. They have a proven track record of delivering excellent value and high-quality energy solutions to businesses that aim to be more environmentally conscious. Being the only electricity supplier in the Irish market offering CPPA options to customers, they are thrilled to work with Britvic Ireland in their effort to reduce carbon emissions through this innovative agreement.

Britvic Ireland is a leading soft drinks company, with its portfolio including some of Ireland’s most popular brands such as Ballygowan, MiWadi, Pepsi, Club, and TK.

In conclusion, this new CPPA between Britvic Ireland and Flogas is a significant milestone, setting an example for other Irish businesses seeking to make more sustainable decisions and support renewable energy in the long term.
