Global climate control expert Munters has unveiled Speria, a new commercial brand designed to integrate its entire FoodTech sector into a cohesive, connected digital platform.

This initiative aims to enhance the digital transformation of the global food supply chain. By bringing together Munters’ hardware, software, and services under one consolidated brand, Speria will provide comprehensive operational intelligence that enables food producers and integrators to operate with greater predictability, efficiency, and resilience.

Despite its significant role, the food industry continues to lag in digital adoption, confronted by rising input costs, chronic labor shortages, and disjointed operations. Although many farms and processing plants generate substantial data, this information often exists in isolated silos. Speria is designed to eliminate these silos, thereby linking planning, execution, and real-time performance.

The ecosystem operates by collecting real-time data directly from farm-level hardware provided by Munters, which includes:

  • Controllers, sensors, and gateways that track live environmental and equipment conditions.
  • Optimization software that processes this data to streamline logistics across the supply chain.
  • Expert services that convert the aggregated data into prioritized actionable insights for operators.

By transforming disparate data into a singular source of truth, the system enables producers to foresee supply chain disruptions more effectively, sustain operational consistency, and enhance key performance metrics such as feed conversion, waste minimization, and animal welfare.

Presently, Munters’ FoodTech sector operates under five distinct brands: MTech Systems (focused on supply chain optimization software) and four specialized environmental controller brands: Hotraco, Rotem, InoBram, and AEI.

The launch of Speria signifies a progressive shift towards closer integration of these technologies. Over time, MTech Systems will transition to the Speria brand, while the four controller brands—Hotraco, Rotem, InoBram, and AEI—will continue their specialized roles under the overarching Speria brand.

For current customers of Munters FoodTech, daily operations will remain unaffected. The company has confirmed that there will be no immediate alterations to legal structures, corporate governance, or customer agreements, and the teams clients regularly interact with will remain unchanged.

Klas Forsström, president and CEO of Munters, emphasized the potential for growth that comes with this digital shift: “Speria represents the next phase of FoodTech’s transformation journey, where Munters has developed a business focused on digital solutions. This enables us to capture a substantial growth opportunity. With our installed base, deep industry expertise, and long-standing relationships with producers and integrators, Speria is uniquely positioned to spearhead the continued digitalization of the food industry.”

Pia Brantgärde Linder, president of FoodTech and group vice president at Munters, highlighted the on-the-ground benefits for food producers: “In practice, this helps our customers anticipate disruptions earlier, improve consistency across operations, and deliver better production and business results. By connecting these capabilities across farm and supply chain, we enable producers and integrators to improve feed conversion, reduce waste and emissions, and support better animal health and welfare.”
