CompAir is committed to developing advanced oil-free compressor technologies to address the risk of contamination and meet the growing demand for air purity in the food and beverage sector. By investing in intelligent heat recovery and oil-free systems, CompAir is helping businesses mitigate risks and improve operational efficiencies.
Contaminated air can have severe consequences in processes where compressed air comes into direct contact with products. Dr. David Bruchof, product manager for oil-free compressors at CompAir, highlights the numerous benefits of using oil-free technology. Not only can it help energy managers achieve valuable cost savings, but it also enhances operational efficiency.
An oil-free system reduces overall costs by eliminating the need for air treatment and oil replacement. Unlike oil-lubricated systems, there is no requirement to purchase additional equipment to separate oil from air, such as oil separators, filtration equipment, and condensate treatment devices.
The range of CompAir products offers 100% oil-free performance, with a choice between fixed or regulated speed options, as well as air and water-cooled models. This includes the following:
- D15H (RS) to D37H (RS) single-stage, water-injected models, ranging from 15 to 37 kW
- D37 (RS) to D160 (RS) two-stage models, ranging from 37 to 160 kW
- Ultima U75 to U160 two-stage, premium efficiency models, ranging from 75 to 160 kW
- DX200 (RS) to DX255 (RS) two-stage models, ranging from 200 to 355 kW
Given the increasing importance of sustainability goals, choosing an oil-free solution aligns with environmentally conscious practices. This decision supports a facility’s green credentials and contributes to overall sustainability efforts.
Additionally, CompAir’s heat recovery options offer further cost savings and efficiency gains. Approximately 94% of the energy required to run a compressor is converted to heat. With CompAir’s heat recovery options, this waste energy can be easily recovered.
Many companies consume significant amounts of energy and incur costs to generate hot process water, heating, or preheating water for steam generation. By utilizing CompAir’s heat recovery options, this waste heat can be repurposed to generate hot water up to 85°C. This hot water can then be utilized as process heat in manufacturing operations. With a diverse range of retrofit options and no impact on the compressed air supply, businesses can often achieve a return on investment in less than one year.
