GEA – Providing High-Tech and Automated Solutions for Food Manufacturing

GEA, the leading plant manufacturer, offers one of the most comprehensive food processing and packaging solutions on the market. Recently, the company presented its new portfolio programme at interpack, the world’s leading trade fair for packaging technology and related processes in the food industry in Düsseldorf.

Through a 25-meter-long production line for portion-precise slicing and loading into the thermoformer, the company showcased its new line concepts and technological competence for the first time to the general public. Following interpack, customers can now experience extensive product testing at the newly opened Technology Center.

One of GEA’s latest innovations is the modularity concept, which provides maximum effectiveness through the best possible interaction of all line components. This strategic approach allows for the design of individual solutions according to exact customer requirements while minimizing energy consumption per production area.

“Our systems are designed for the smallest possible footprint, which allows us to ensure more capacity per square meter with our future solutions,” said Steffen Bamberger, the head of Product Management Automation at GEA. “A consistent modularity program runs through the complete and innovative automation program.”

The exhibited slicing and packaging line for sausage and cheese is full of new technology highlights. The new OptiLoader family is being showcased to the market for the first time, and it stands for the best possible line integration with the highest degree of modularity.

Furthermore, GEA’s new robotics solution OptiRobot 6000 enables differently shaped portions to be loaded into a packaging machine with any kind of laying pattern fully automatically, thereby offering the highest degree of automation combined with super-low labor costs and ample flexibility.

In summary, GEA’s aspiration for forward-looking line concepts is to ensure maximum plant effectiveness while minimizing energy consumption and increasing overall equipment effectiveness. Their comprehensive modular program and innovative automation program will help food manufacturers optimize their production capabilities and streamline their operations.
