## Dawn Meats Sells Minority Shareholding in French Meat Processor
Collaboration between Dawn Meats and Terrena has resulted in improved performance and significant investment at Elivia. However, due to a misalignment of their respective visions for the business, both parties have decided to pursue alternative ownership arrangements for Elivia. Dawn Meats, a leading food manufacturing company, has decided to dispose of its minority shareholding in the French meat processor.
Dawn Meats CEO, Niall Browne, emphasized the strategic importance of the French market for beef and lamb. Despite the sale of its stake in Elivia, the company remains committed to engaging with the market and exploring new opportunities. Browne also highlighted the remarkable growth of Dawn Meats and its UK division Dunbia, which have more than doubled in size independently of their involvement with Elivia. The management team is dedicated to continuing this success and has further business developments in the pipeline.
The proposed disposal of Dawn Meats’ stake in Elivia is contingent upon the approval of antitrust authorities and other regulatory bodies in France and abroad. Details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
In response to the sale, Alain Le Floch, CEO of Terrena, expressed his delight at regaining full ownership of Elivia. Le Floch highlighted the significant performance improvements achieved by the company in recent years. Elivia, fully owned by farmers, is firmly rooted and well-positioned to provide high-quality and innovative services and products to its customers.
Dawn Meats’ decision to sell its stake in Elivia follows the expansion of its subsidiary, Dunbia, in the West Country. Just three months ago, Dunbia acquired lamb processor H R Jasper & Son in Cornwall, further strengthening its presence in the food manufacturing sector.
Overall, this strategic decision marks a shift in Dawn Meats’ priorities, as it aligns its vision with its own business growth plans while maintaining an active presence in the French market.
