Unilever is set to enhance its operations with a significant investment in its factory located in Poznań, Poland. The prominent player in the food and beverage industry is focusing on “advanced automation” and optimizing “logistics processes” at this production site.
The planned investment, estimated at nearly 100 million zlotys (approximately $27.5 million), will introduce a fully automated high-bay warehouse with a capacity for 9,600 pallets. Additionally, a new dispatch hall will be established, serving as a central hub for loading and unloading.
Construction has commenced, with the primary phase starting this week, and completion is anticipated by the end of 2026. Overall, the project aims for full operational readiness in 2027. Unilever has stated that over 25% of the factory site will undergo redevelopment to create a modern logistics and infrastructure layout that meets future operational needs.
Przemysław Fejfer, the director of Unilever’s Poznań factory, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “This investment is a significant and engaging endeavor for our factory and marks an important step in the site’s further development.” He further noted that the project aims to form an intelligent logistics ecosystem encompassing the entire facility. By merging automation with process harmonization, Unilever aims to bolster efficiency and operational flexibility.
This initiative is expected to enhance the resilience of Unilever’s supply chain, allowing for a more responsive approach to business partners’ requirements. In a demonstration of commitment to growth, Unilever had previously invested almost 90 million zlotys (around $20.8 million) in the same facility in 2023 to scale up production capabilities for its ramen noodles brands.
Earlier this week, Unilever also announced the sale of its UK snack business, Graze, to Katjes International, a German confectionery group, with financial terms yet to be disclosed. This transaction is anticipated to finalize in the first half of 2026.
This latest investment in the Poznań factory aligns with Unilever’s previous commitment to enhancing its production capacity and capabilities. The food and drink business is strategically poised to respond to evolving food and drink consumer trends through such investments.
In 2023, the multinational corporation allocated funds to introduce a new production line specifically for its Knorr, Unox, and Amino noodle brands, reflecting its adaptability in the competitive food and beverage industry.
