New Guinness 0.0 Facility Receives €25 Million Investment from Diageo Ireland Food and Beverage Business

Diageo Ireland has announced a significant increase in production capacity for Guinness 0.0, the leading non-alcoholic stout in the market. With a €25 million investment in a state-of-the-art facility at its St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin, the company aims to meet the growing global demand for this beverage. This expansion comes at a time when the food and beverage industry is witnessing notable trends, including advancements in food manufacturing, processing technology, and distribution.

The new production facility at St. James’s Gate includes six modern processing vessels with a combined capacity of 500,000 hectolitres, equivalent to almost 90 million pints. Furthermore, a two-storey building has been constructed, housing a cold filtration system that gently removes the alcohol from Guinness 0.0. This innovation aligns with the trend towards sustainability and regulations in the food and drink industry.

With all global production taking place at St. James’s Gate, Guinness 0.0 is exported to key markets such as GB, Europe, US, Canada, Middle East, and South Korea. In Ireland, the demand for this non-alcoholic alternative has seen remarkable growth since its launch in 2021. It is projected that Guinness 0.0 will represent 10% of all Guinness trademark sales in the country in the coming years, illustrating the shifting consumer trends towards healthier choices in the beverage sector.

Guinness 0.0’s success has been the result of an extensive four-year development process, which sets it apart from other non-alcoholic stouts in terms of quality. This distinctiveness is further reinforced by the understanding that Guinness 0.0 takes an additional day to produce compared to the original stout. These factors contribute to the positioning of Guinness 0.0 as an innovative product that aligns with consumer preferences.

Barry O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Diageo Ireland, praised the investment and expressed confidence in the future growth of Guinness 0.0. He highlighted the brand’s position as the leading non-alcoholic beer in both Ireland and Great Britain, emphasizing the importance of offering consumers more choices. As the food and drink industry continues to witness advancements in areas such as marketing, packaging, and consumer trends, Guinness 0.0 represents a notable success story and contributes to the export reputation of Ireland.
