Mark Hodge Appointed as New Managing Director of Samworth Brothers' Soreen Food and Beverage Business

Mark Hodge has joined the Soreen brand, owned by Samworth Brothers, after spending two decades at a prominent frozen food company, where he led the marketing department for nearly 14 years.

In his new position, Hodge aims to enhance the Soreen legacy by utilizing its health-oriented attributes to cater to the increasing consumer preference for nutritious snacking alternatives.

Throughout his significant tenure at McCain Foods GB, he conceptualized and executed a series of award-winning marketing initiatives and established a history of market-leading innovations that contributed to brand enhancement.

“Soreen is a brand rich in nostalgia and heritage, with vast untapped potential. It is a recognized name with a distinctive core product that ignites my enthusiasm for brand development and innovation,” Hodge commented.

Hodge takes over from Beth Brown, the previous managing director, who served for about a year and a half. Earlier, she held the position of marketing director from 2014 to 2021.

Under Brown’s leadership, Soreen experienced a revitalization, which was described as “instrumental” in restoring the brand’s growth and fostering a “revitalized culture, strategy, and innovation pipeline.”

Brown will continue her journey within the Samworth Brothers family, transitioning into a group strategy director role. In this capacity, she will oversee strategic development across the diverse portfolio of categories and brands within the group.

“I am eager to elevate Soreen into a more iconic status, ensuring its enduring success for generations to come by exploring innovative avenues beyond traditional grocery channels, while promoting its positive nutrition attributes in light of the evolving health landscape, including the rising impact of GLP-1s on consumer behavior,” he added.
