Commitment to Climate Protection and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
With a holistic commitment to climate protection, the KHS Group, together with parent company Salzgitter AG, is dedicated to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated the results, confirming that the Dortmund systems supplier is on the right path.
The SBTi, an independent climate protection organization, develops standards and tools for companies to establish concrete greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Through a transparent audit process, these targets are validated. In alignment with the Paris Climate Agreement and the 1.5°C target, KHS Group, along with other Salzgitter AG companies, has set short-term and long-term targets for science-based CO2 reduction. These targets have now been officially validated by the SBTi. By 2028, KHS Group aims to reduce its scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 36% at all sites and decrease scope 3 emissions by 20% throughout its value chain.
Ambitious Decarbonization Plan
CEO Kai Acker emphasizes the urgency of achieving their intermediate goal within a few years. Specific decarbonization measures have been adopted, with initial steps set to be implemented soon. Acker views this ambitious plan as both an incentive and an obligation, demonstrating KHS Group’s commitment to responsible and transparent climate protection.
