Susan Jebb has confirmed that she will continue in her role as chair of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) following a request from Government Ministers. She had previously announced her departure in February 2024, with her term set to end on June 30. However, due to time constraints before the general election, Ministers in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland asked Jebb to stay on.

In addition to her position at the FSA, Susan Jebb also serves as Professor of Diet and Population Health at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Jebb expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to remain as FSA chair during this critical period and acknowledged the support of her colleagues at the University of Oxford.

The appointment of Susan Jebb as FSA chair is made by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland. With her continued leadership, the FSA is poised to address important issues in the food industry and uphold its mission of ensuring food safety and standards.

Overall, Susan Jebb’s decision to stay on as FSA chair underscores the agency’s commitment to maintaining stability and effective leadership. Her expertise in diet and population health will continue to be a valuable asset in guiding the FSA’s efforts to protect public health and uphold food standards.
