Haudecoeur, a French food distributor supported by the private equity firm Apheon, has successfully completed the acquisition of Natur Food, a wholesaler specialising in Turkish food items, as well as Heliadis, a manufacturer of various sauces.

Details regarding the financial aspects of the transactions were not made public.

Natur Food operates out of Giessen, Germany, while Heliadis is based in Vilvoorde, Belgium. Both entities are family-owned businesses.

In a statement attributed to Apheon, Haudecoeur announced that these acquisitions will enable the company to expand its operations internationally for the first time, positioning it “as a leading European platform in world food.”

The announcement indicated that the combined revenue of these three companies exceeds €350 million ($404.3 million).

Founded in 2006, Natur Food serves as a wholesaler of an array of Turkish food products. It markets items under its own brand, Ahinur, including olives and canned tomatoes, and partners with various retailers throughout Germany to distribute third-party brands like Egetürk, known for its sausages and sujuk.

Haudecoeur mentioned that this acquisition provides access to Germany’s Turkish community and serves as “a foothold to serve the sizeable and growing Turkish population in France.”

Established in 2005, Heliadis specializes in catering to the ethnic fast-food sector, particularly excelling in sauce production under its Nawhal’s brand. The company primarily sells its sauces to foodservice operators in France through a network of wholesalers.

Miloud Benaouda, CEO of Haudecoeur, stated: “These two acquisitions mark a milestone in our internationalisation journey by giving us an immediate footprint in the strategic German market and first-time access to the Turkish community, while strengthening our position in the foodservice channel and enriching our product range with the fast-growing sauces category. We have identified significant synergies and strategic advantages in both transactions and look forward to working with the Natur Food and Heliadis teams.”

Founded in 1932, Haudecoeur focuses on importing, producing, and distributing food products predominantly aimed at consumers of Maghrebi, Asian, African, and Antillean descent, primarily through specialist retailers and supermarkets.

The group is supported by Apheon alongside French asset manager LFPI and the Haudecoeur family. Its product portfolio encompasses rice, dried fruits and vegetables, spices, cereals, sauces, brick pastry sheets, and candies, with brands including Samia, Riz du Monde, Profruit, Legumor, and La Pastilla.
