Aldi, the discount retailer, is accelerating its store opening initiative, planning to launch 10 new locations this summer. This expansion aims to strengthen its presence and better serve customers across various communities.
Aldi is actively seeking candidates for a range of roles, including store assistants, cleaners, apprentices, and management positions. This recruitment drive aligns with the company’s growth strategy.
Currently, Aldi store assistants earn a competitive starting hourly wage of £12.75, which rises to £13.66. In London, new hires enjoy an even higher starting rate of £14.05, which increases to £14.35.
Additionally, Aldi distinguishes itself as the only UK supermarket offering paid breaks—benefits valued at over £1,370 annually for the average store colleague.
Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, remarked: “As we expand into new communities, we’re excited to bring even more people into the Aldi family.”
“We’re proud to offer not only the best pay and benefits, but also a positive working environment and real opportunities for progression.”
Positioned as the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, Aldi operates over 1,050 stores and employs more than 45,000 staff members.
This summer, new stores will open in several locations, including Sheffield, Newcastle, Fulham Broadway, Brighouse in West Yorkshire, Oldbury in West Midlands, Caterham in Surrey, Deeside in Wales, Diss in Norfolk, Hilton in Derbyshire, and Market Harborough in Leicestershire.
In other news, Aldi recently faced a legal setback when the Supreme Court denied permission to appeal a ruling that established the retailer had infringed on the Thatchers Cider trademark.
