US-based contract food manufacturer Roskam Foods is set to close its cereal and granola production facility located in San Dimas, California.
The closure aligns with the company’s comprehensive strategy to optimize its network by centralizing cereal and granola operations at its Grand Rapids facility in Michigan.
In a released statement, Roskam noted that the Grand Rapids site is strategically positioned for ingredient sourcing and automation, making it an ideal center for production.
This consolidation is also aimed at enhancing customer service, expediting time to market, and bolstering quality assurance, as stated by the company.
Roskam Foods’ CEO, Andre LeBron, remarked, “Centralising cereal and granola production at Grand Rapids is an investment in the future of the category and in our customers. It positions us to deliver greater efficiency, faster innovation, and the consistent quality our customers count on.”
The transition is expected to be completed by October 1. However, the announcement did not specify how many employees would be impacted by the closure.
The San Dimas facility was integrated into Roskam’s operations following its acquisition of Organic Milling in 2023.
Production timelines and scheduling have already transitioned to the Grand Rapids site, with the firm assuring that there will be “no interruption” in supply.
Zach Malin, the chief commercial officer of Roskam, emphasized, “Our customers count on us for consistency, speed, and quality, and this consolidation delivers on all three. By centralising cereal and granola production and investing in it, we’re building the capacity to innovate faster and grow alongside the brands we serve.”
Established in 1923, Roskam provides a wide range of food products, including baked snacks, cereals, frozen meals, and both refrigerated and shelf-stable items, serving food brands, retailers, and food service providers across the USA and Canada.
