Three investors acquire US-based Butterworks Farm Dairy & Soy Food Food and Beverage Business

US-based dairy business Butterworks Farm has been acquired by Anthony Calderaro, Ania Kuniej, and Joseph Calderaro. The Vermont dairy farm, known for its organic dairy products from Jersey cows, was previously owned by Jack and Anne Lazor, who operated it for 48 years. The new owners have ambitious plans to expand Butterworks Farm’s reach and offer their grass-fed organic products to more customers in existing and new markets.

The farm, spread over 400 acres of pastures and hayfields, also houses a processing plant and employs around 15 people. Butterworks Farm produces a variety of dairy products like yogurts, kefir, heavy cream, and buttermilk from its on-farm creamery throughout the year.

“We are very excited to become the new owners of this 100% grass-fed organic dairy farm and to continue the cherished tradition started by Jack and Anne Lazor. We share their passion and vision for people, animals, and nature living in balance,” said the new owners.

Butterworks Farm has the capacity to process 4,000 to 5,000 quarts of milk weekly, producing organic, grass-fed yogurt, buttermilk, and kefirs with live and active cultures. These products, along with a small amount of heavy cream, are available in Vermont and most of the US northeast.

In other news, Lifeway Foods, a US kefir maker, has faced challenges as its largest investors, Ludmila and Edward Smolyansky, advocate for the resignation of CEO Julie Smolyansky. The shareholders filed a consent statement to replace the current board of directors, including the CEO, indicating a shakeup in the company’s leadership.

These developments reflect the dynamic nature of the food and beverage industry, where businesses strive to innovate, expand, and adapt to market demands. Stay updated on industry trends and consumer preferences to ensure sustainable growth in the food and drink business.
