Switzerland’s Hero Group has expanded its footprint in Brazil by acquiring a majority stake in local snack company Super Saude Nutricional.
Established in 2013, Super Saude Nutricional offers over 30 snack products under the Pinati brand.
Waldemiro Pinati will continue as the CEO of Super Saude Nutricional and also maintain a minority stake in the company.
The financial terms of this acquisition remain undisclosed.
Hero Group CEO Christian Schierbaum stated: “This acquisition continues our strategy to expand our snack business and enter regions with high snack penetration.”
Super Saude Nutricional specializes in a variety of products that include protein bars, crisps, and chocolate-covered snacks.
Headquartered in Campo Largo, the company maintains a presence in Brazil’s north-east, south-east, and southern regions.
Hero Group already operates in Brazil, marketing jams and spreads under its namesake and Queensberry brands. The company has a factory located in Itatiba, south-eastern Brazil, employing 170 individuals.
“From this acquisition, we will be present in a new business front that grows every year, in full line with the global strategy of the Hero group,” added Cristiano de Moraes, CEO of Hero’s Brazil operations.
This marks a pivotal step in bolstering the company’s presence and competitiveness within the Brazilian market.
Schierbaum was promoted from the position of Hero chief business officer to CEO in April, succeeding Rob Versloot, who stepped down after over 12 years in leadership.
Last year, Hero, which owns brands such as Schwartau, Semper, and Freche Freunde, expanded its footprint in the UK by acquiring the local company Deliciously Ella.
