The acquisition of the ScotFresh Group by CJ Lang & Son marks an exciting development for both companies. With nine ScotFresh branded stores and 130 colleagues joining forces with CJ Lang & Son, this collaboration is set to strengthen their position in the industry.

Colin McLean, Chief Executive, expressed his delight over the acquisition. He emphasized ScotFresh’s excellent reputation, recognized brand, and loyal customer base. McLean announced that, initially, the stores will continue to operate under the ScotFresh brand, as CJ Lang & Son aims to share best practices while maintaining separate business units.

Founded in 1983 by Jack and Rita Marwaha, ScotFresh has established a presence in various locations such as Glasgow’s west end, Riddrie, Cardonald, Scotstoun, Denny, Irvine, Carluke, and Dumfries. The stores have been trading with Booker, furthering their growth and success.

Shaun Marwaha, Chairman of ScotFresh, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the importance of finding a buyer who values customer service and understands their clientele. Marwaha praised CJ Lang & Son as a fantastic Scottish family business, known for working closely with local suppliers and offering affordable, high-quality food and drink items.

The ScotFresh stores will retain their existing branding, operating as a separate business unit. However, they will benefit from CJ Lang & Son’s support through central teams and the distribution center located in Dundee. This arrangement ensures seamless operations and service to customers.

This new and exciting chapter brings gratitude from the ScotFresh team to their staff and colleagues who have been instrumental in their success. Marwaha acknowledges their invaluable support and looks forward to the future with CJ Lang & Son. The acquisition represents a promising partnership for both companies as they continue to provide exceptional service to their customers.
