Royal A-ware, a Netherlands-based dairy group, is set to acquire Belgium-based peer The Dairy Food Group, a move that aligns with the company’s strategy of expanding its dairy operations in Belgium and strengthening its presence in a second domestic market. The acquisition will include The Dairy Food Group’s businesses, such as BMC, Eurodesserts, and Limelco.
The transaction, which is pending approval from the European Commission, is expected to be finalized by the end of the year. CEO Jan Anker expressed optimism about the deal, stating that it will optimize milk processing operations in Belgium, enhance supply chain efficiencies, and broaden the product portfolio for customers.
The Dairy Food Group, known for its daily milk collection activities involving 260 farmers, anticipates that the sale to Royal A-ware will expedite its growth ambitions and create new job opportunities. CEO Nathalie Nijs highlighted the synergy between the two companies in terms of values and sustainability goals.
Royal A-ware, headquartered in Lopik, the Netherlands, operates in multiple countries including Belgium, Spain, and the US. Anker, a key figure in the company, hails from the Anker Kaas family business, which merged with Bouter Cheese to form Royal A-ware in 2010. Notably, Royal A-ware recently acquired a dairy facility from Danone in Spain, with plans to produce mozzarella at the newly acquired plant.
The acquisition signifies a strategic move for Royal A-ware as it continues to grow and expand its presence in the food and beverage industry. This development underscores the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and enhancing its product offerings for consumers.
