Fenn Foods and All G Foods, two prominent Australian plant-based meat companies, have merged to create The Aussie Plant Based Co. The merger will establish an extensive distribution network with 6,000 distribution points across the country, reshaping the plant-based meat landscape in Australia. The new entity aims to cater effectively to the diverse needs of customers and consumers throughout Australia, with plans for expansion into Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
While the focus of The Aussie Plant Based Co. will be on plant-based meat operations, All G Foods will retain its bio-technology division to concentrate on developing dairy-alternative products. This strategic move will allow All G Foods to become Australia’s leading bio-tech company specializing in precision fermentation.
The merger brings together Fenn Foods, founded by renowned chef Alejandro Cancino and Paola Moro in 2015, and All G Foods, which launched in 2021 after a A$15.5m ($9.9m) seed funding round. Fenn Foods is behind the Veef brand, sold primarily through retailers, while All G Foods focuses more on the foodservice channel with its Love Buds brand.
Jan Pacas, the founder of All G Foods, will assume the role of chairman of The Aussie Plant Based Co., while Alejandro Cancino will become the CEO. With their combined strengths, the company aims to accelerate the adoption of plant-based alternatives and contribute to a greener planet and more ethical sources of protein.
About The Aussie Plant Based Co.
The Aussie Plant Based Co. will manufacture its products in Fenn Foods’ existing facility in Queensland. The company has also announced a new board of directors, including meat industry veteran Rob Lederer and Bryan Zekulich, a partner at investment firm Bombora. The manufacturing consolidation and the addition of experienced professionals to the board highlight the company’s commitment to excellence and growth in the plant-based meat sector.
Series A Funding Round
In August last year, All G Foods secured A$25m in a Series A funding round to develop dairy alternatives alongside its plant-based meat products, such as Love Buds soy burgers, plant-based sausage, mince, and nuggets. The funding round, led by UK-based venture-capital firm Agronomics and its “affiliate,” the New Agrarian Company, resulted in a 13% share in the business.
The merger between Fenn Foods and All G Foods marks a significant milestone in the Australian plant-based food industry, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and sustainability. The Aussie Plant Based Co. is poised to become a leader in the market, offering a wide range of tasty and environmentally friendly products to meet the evolving needs of consumers.
