Kerry Dairy introduces innovative dairy-and-oat hybrid range, a first in the category Kerry Group Food and Beverage Business

In a UK first, Kerry Dairy introduces Smug Dairy, a new chilled brand combining oats and dairy.

Smug Dairy products will be stocked at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and The Co-op, offering consumers a unique blend of dairy alternatives.

Kerry is unveiling six products as part of this launch, including three ‘cheddar’ alternative SKUs, two butter-style products, and a milk option.

Beginning on March 25th, retailers will gradually introduce the new products, with Tesco and Morrisons expected to carry the full range by May.

The initiative aims to revolutionize the dairy category, challenging traditional perceptions and bridging the dairy and non-dairy markets with innovative offerings.

Kerry boasts that Smug’s cheddar cheese has 35% less saturated fat and a lower CO2 footprint compared to standard cheese.

Citing YouGov and ComRes data, one in four UK shoppers are now considering reducing dairy consumption due to health, environmental, and ethical reasons.

Victoria Southern, strategy, marketing, and innovation director at Kerry Dairy Consumer Foods unit, stated, “With this first-to-market category launch, we are not only creating a new way for dairy lovers to enjoy dairy with a bold and exciting new brand but also shaping a dairy category that is future-ready.”

She continued, “The Smug Dairy range offers a 40% reduction in saturated fats and up to 54% lower CO2e emissions per kilogram compared to conventional dairy products, all while maintaining the rich and creamy taste that consumers crave.”

Kerry Dairy Consumer Foods is thrilled about this launch as it aligns with their mission to revolutionize dairy through innovation and sustainability for a brighter future.
