Spanish plant-based manufacturer Sanygran Foods has completed the acquisition of Obrador Sorribas, the meat-free division of Idilia Foods. The undisclosed transaction grants Sanygran control over a Barcelona-based plant that employs 60 people and produces meat-free products such as burgers, sausages, and ready meals.
The acquisition aligns with Sanygran’s European expansion strategy. The company stated, “This strategic move enhances our industrial capacity in southern Europe, positioning us as one of the leading manufacturers of plant-based foods. It enables us to diversify our product offerings, catering to a wide range of customer needs.”
Sanygran’s Tudela factory in Navarre has now been complemented with a manufacturing facility in Barcelona. The increased production capacity is a significant step towards achieving the company’s goal of making plant-based products more affordable. Roselyne Chane, the General Director of Sanygran, emphasized that the additional capacity will also allow the company to serve as a manufacturing partner for other plant-based businesses.
Chane stated, “With our new plant, we are the ideal partner for any vegetable food project. We offer solutions to customers seeking meat or fish alternatives, as well as those looking for traditional vegetable options. Our products are delicious, healthy, and now available at the best prices, in various formats, providing consumers with a wide range of choices.”
