This strategic move will lead to the creation of 125 new jobs, as the company, known for its crisps, cheese curls, pretzels, and popcorn under brands like Herr’s, Good Natured, and Cheyenne, plans to invest $25m in a new plant in Jackson, Ohio, generating 75 new positions.
An additional $6m will be injected into the company’s Chillicothe facility within the same state, resulting in the creation of 50 new jobs. This expansion will more than double the current workforce in Ohio for Herr Foods.
Noteworthy decisions by Herr Foods include the purchase of an industrial site in Jackson, which includes a warehouse.
CEO Ed Herr expressed the company’s commitment to customer service and community development: “This investment represents our commitment to serving our customers better and providing opportunities in the local community. We look forward to contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Jackson and Chillicothe areas.”
The collaboration with local organizations such as JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), the Jackson County Ohio Economic Development Partnership, and the Jackson Civic Improvement Corporation is a vital aspect of this initiative.
Katy Farber, vice president of OhioSE, highlighted the significance of this project in securing Herr Foods’ future in the region through new jobs and investments.
