Evertis, the world’s largest supplier of PET multilayer film for the food and drink packaging sector, has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art production plant in Columbia, SC. This project, with a total investment of US $100 million, is expected to commence operations in Q2 2026, with initial commercial sales to customers anticipated later that same year.

The first phase of this significant expansion will introduce 30,000 tons of additional capacity to the North American food and drink sustainable packaging market. This development is projected to create over 100 full-time jobs in the region while fostering economic growth in the United States. Furthermore, this strategic initiative will generate considerable advantages throughout the local value chain, with additional expansion on the horizon. By Q2 2028, a second phase is expected to boost production capacity by another 30,000 tons, ultimately reaching a total of 60,000 tons.

Evertis has been a key player in the United States market since 2000, initially supplying products from its manufacturing facilities in Mexico and Brazil. The decision to invest in a new production plant within the U.S. underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing its local presence and ensuring a more reliable, efficient supply to meet the surging demand for food and drink packaging solutions in North America.

“This is truly another important milestone on our journey to deliver our packaging to the doorsteps of our customers,” said Thomaz Gruber, Executive VP Operations of Evertis USA. “The asset addition to our global Group production footprint will enable us to offer shorter lead times, reduce supply chain risks, and better align with the increasing market demand for packaging solutions that prioritize circularity and environmental responsibility.”

Evertis operates under the IMG Group, a privately owned company with over 65 years of expertise in the polymers industry. Their ongoing commitment to innovation is evident in their recent expansions and diversification strategies. In 2024, the Group has already seen growth within its copolyester-producing business, Selenis, at the Fayetteville, NC plant, and launched the Evercare® and Selcare® brands to provide packaging solutions specifically designed for the healthcare sector.

“As we expand in the U.S., our focus is on delivering packaging solutions that help our customers minimize their environmental footprint. With localized production, we can better support their goals for reducing life cycle impacts, while our innovative portfolio opens new opportunities for greater circularity in the packaging industry,” said Dan Kearny, Chief Business Officer of IMG Group.

Evertis recognizes the U.S. as a global hub for some of the most influential brand owners worldwide. By strengthening its proximity to these brands, Evertis enhances its ability to collaborate directly with key industry leaders, promoting sustainable packaging solutions on a global scale.
