Bakery de France Brings La Lorraine Bakery to North America. Bakery and Cereal Food and Beverage Business La Lorraine Bakery Group

La Lorraine Bakery Group, a family-owned company based in Belgium, has purchased a 50% stake in Bakery de France, a US-based bakery and pastries business. This joint venture aims to supply the North American market, where Bakery de France generates around $80m in annual revenue through retail and foodservice channels.

Alexander Salameh, the COO of Bakery de France, will lead the venture as CEO. La Lorraine Bakery Group, with revenue of €1.4bn ($1.5bn) in 2023, did not disclose the acquisition price. Guido Vanherpe, LLBG’s CEO, expressed excitement about expanding to North America, emphasizing the opportunity to grow internationally.

LLBG operates in over 30 countries with 17 production sites and employs around 5,000 staff. The company focuses on fresh baked goods, frozen bake-off products, flour milling for B2B customers, and franchised bakery stores. Notable brands under LLBG include La Lorraine, Panesco, Donut Worry Be Happy, and Panos sandwiches and drinks shops.

Salameh stated, “We are proud to partner with LLBG, a strong company that aligns with our values of quality and customer service. This collaboration highlights our dedication to customers and team members as we continue to grow together.”

LLBG saw a 17% revenue increase last year, with EBIT growing by 45% to €92.9m and net profit after tax rising by 48% to €50.6m. The company’s profit margin also improved from 5.5% to 6.8%. This strategic partnership marks a significant step in the continued success and growth of both companies in the food and beverage industry.
