Ascona Group has recently announced that its flagship Green Garage Service Station in Pembroke, West Wales, will undergo a re-branding to Valero. The service station will continue to offer the same high-quality fuel that was previously sold under the Texaco brand. Two more Ascona sites, Ascona Crossways in Neyland and Ascona Tenby Road near Carmarthen, will also be re-branded as Valero service stations during the month of October.
This marks Valero Energy’s first venture into the UK retail sector using its Valero brand. The company has a long-standing association with the Pembroke area, as it owns and operates the Pembroke refinery and a fuel terminal at Waterston near Milford Haven. This makes the Ascona service stations in Pembroke a natural fit for the introduction of the Valero brand into the UK.
Having a successful history of retail fuel in the US and Mexico, Valero is the world’s largest independent fuel refiner and the second largest producer of corn ethanol and renewable diesel through its joint venture. Since acquiring the Pembroke refinery and UK marketing and logistics assets in 2011, Valero has made significant investments in its logistics infrastructure and network. This has enabled the company to develop into one of the most reliable distribution networks in the UK for retailers.
Chuck Pettibon, Valero’s Vice President of UK commercial operations, expressed his excitement about the launch of the Valero brand in the UK. He stated, “The natural progression for the company was to bring the Valero brand to UK forecourts. We’re extremely excited to be launching the Valero brand in the UK. It is a very attractive image that offers large and small fuel retailers the option for a new look to their forecourts. Retailers have asked when the brand would be introduced into the UK, and now it is.”
Valero emphasizes its strong community ethic and plans to extend this spirit to Valero-branded retailers, supporting their community and charity efforts. Through charity events and volunteering, both Valero and Ascona aim to give back to the community. Valero is eager to partner with Ascona on its community outreach initiatives.
Overall, this re-branding marks a significant milestone for both Ascona and Valero, as they join forces to introduce the Valero brand into the UK retail sector. With their shared commitment to quality and community engagement, it is a partnership that is poised for success.
