Sharp’s Brewery Introduces New Cold River Cider

Sharp's Brewery launches new Cold River Cider

Sharp’s Brewery has successfully launched a new cider brand in the UK on-trade, collaborating with Aspall Cyder House to capitalize on the expanding premium cider sector.

With an established heritage in cider making, Sharp’s Brewery took the initiative to journey up the river from their Cornish estuary home. This collaboration with Aspall Cyder House has led to the creation of a brand-new liquid. The result, Sharp’s Cold River Cider, integrates Aspall’s expertise with Sharp’s inventive approach to deliver a premium 4.5% ABV medium-dry apple cider. This refreshing cider features a light, crisp, and irresistibly moreish flavor profile.

The introduction of this brand offers an exciting new choice in the premium cider market, which accounted for over 40% of total value sales in the on-trade cider sector in 2020.

James Nicholls, marketing controller for Sharp’s Brewery, emphasized: “At Sharp’s Brewery, we continually strive to deliver balanced, quality beverages which speak of where they come from.

“Last year, we journeyed up-river from our Cornish estuary home to Aspall cyder house in Suffolk. There, after a meeting of minds between our beer sommelier, Ed Hughes, and the Aspall master cider makers, Cold River Cider was forged, fusing Aspall’s taste-making expertise with Sharp’s fresh perspectives to create this delicious new cider.

“In Cold River Cider, we have created something truly unique; a crisp & moreish, refreshing medium-dry apple cider, flowing with a fresh approach and refreshing look, challenging the usual design conventions of traditional ciders.

“Cold River Cider will really deliver for those customers looking to premiumise their cider range with something a little bit different, but with the exceptional quality product you’d expect from Sharp’s and Aspall. We can’t wait to get out there and enjoy a pint of Cold River Cider with friends this summer.”

Phil Pick, marketing controller for Cider at Molson Coors Beverage Company, noted: “The launch of Sharp’s Cold River Cider means we now offer a range of choices in the cider category, including our super premium Aspall Cyder and our renowned Rekorderlig range, catering to those customers looking for more premium options and exciting flavor variations.”
