The Post Office’s charitable donations facility helps BBC Children in Need ensure that every child and young person is given the support they need to thrive and be the best they can be. Moreover, supporting BBC Children in Need has become increasingly important as recent statistics show that 4.2 million children are living in poverty, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), and over 1 million children received emergency food parcels from the Trussell Trust in the year leading up to March 2023.
Both the Post Office and BBC Children in Need have taken active roles in supporting communities faced with the rising cost of living. Projects by BBC Children in Need have been instrumental in helping young people in every corner of the UK, while the Post Office’s 11,500 branches have played a crucial role in assisting families with accessing financial support from government and charities.
Building on the success of last year’s collaboration, where Post Office mobile branches supported BBC Children in Need’s community fundraising through their Rickshaw Challenge, Post Office is going even bigger this year. In August, they will hit the road with CarFest, the largest family fundraising festival in the UK. This high-profile event will provide further exposure and opportunities to raise funds for BBC Children in Need.
In addition, Post Office will actively promote BBC Children in Need through its extensive branch network in the lead up to the highly anticipated Appeal night on 17 November. By leveraging the reach and accessibility of their branches, the Post Office aims to create greater awareness and encourage more donations for this worthy cause.
As the Post Office’s role in providing essential cash services to every community continues to grow each year, their branches alone handled a staggering £3.35 billion of cash for customers and businesses in the UK during June. Recognizing the importance of cash to their customers in budgeting, the Post Office offers a convenient way for individuals to support charities by donating notes and coins. Customers can choose to donate in-branch by dropping off counted and bagged coins and notes, or by card or cheque. Furthermore, almost everyone with a UK bank account can conduct their everyday banking transactions over a Post Office counter.
