In a significant step towards a plastic-free future, ape2o has announced a collaboration with Chiltern Railways to introduce their groundbreaking water refill stations at Marylebone Station. This partnership represents a key initiative aimed at eliminating single-use plastics in transportation hubs, reinforcing the necessity for food and drink sustainable packaging.
This marks the inaugural installation of a Big Ape at a major London station, highlighting ape2o’s notable advancements in the battle against plastic waste and emphasizing Chiltern Railways’ commitment to reducing single-use plastic across its entire network.
Big Apes provide travelers with access to premium water on-the-go without harming the planet. By partnering with Chiltern Railways, ape2o can further their mission, encouraging more individuals to choose water without the accompanying plastic waste. This collaboration also reflects Chiltern’s broader objective of modernizing and greening its operations by 2030.
Nathan Sobers, Regional Manager (London) at Chiltern Railways, stated: “We are delighted to partner with ape2o to bring their innovative water refill stations to Marylebone Station. Encouraging environmentally friendly practices among our customers fits in perfectly with our 2030 vision, which places sustainability at the top of its agenda.”
As pioneers of plastic abolition and providers of premium drinking water, Big Apes deliver more than just convenience. Their refill stations serve as a beacon of technological innovation, offering chilled, ultra-filtered water—available in still or sparkling—at a fraction of the cost of traditional plastic bottled water.
The urgency is clear: fewer than 10% of single-use plastic bottles are recycled, with the majority ending up in our oceans, landfills, or being incinerated, which contributes to over a quarter of a million tonnes of CO2e emissions each year.
ape2o founder Anthony Newman remarks, “We’re extremely proud to partner with Chiltern Railways at their flagship Marylebone station as the first station of many across their network where ape2o can help their customers refill and ditch the plastic.”
ape2o is committed to action, not just words. Ten percent of all sales are directed towards ocean, freshwater, and marine life conservation and clean-up initiatives. By reducing plastic bottle usage through Big Apes, these projects receive more support, bringing us closer to a world devoid of single-use plastic. ape2o represents water that gives back.
Partnering with Chiltern Railways marks a triumphant achievement in ape2o’s ongoing mission, but significant efforts remain to realize their ultimate goal. More Big Apes are on the way across the Chiltern Railways network, and through this inaugural collaboration, ape2o’s relentless pursuit to eradicate single-use plastic is well underway.
