Agristo Masa, a joint venture between Masa Global and Agristo, a leading producer of frozen potato products, plans to invest an additional €80m ($87.23m) in its Indian operations.
The facility, located in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, has shown remarkable progress.
Since its launch in 2022, Agristo reported that potato yields in the region have nearly doubled, soaring from 17 tons per hectare (ha) to 32 tons per ha, which marks one of the highest yields in India.
Kristof Wallays, Agristo’s director of international expansion, innovation, and sustainability, stated, “Our collaboration with Masa Global allows us to contribute to the rapidly growing Indian agriculture and food processing sector, benefiting all stakeholders involved.”
Furthermore, the Bijnor factory serves not only Indian customers but also exports to multiple markets, including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North America.
This new investment will facilitate the introduction of a production line dedicated to frozen potato products, signifying “an important step in the company’s ongoing growth,” as highlighted by Agristo.
Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele commented, “With Flemish technology, we are building the future here [India].”
He added, “This investment not only strengthens the Indian economy but also fosters new innovations and closer cooperation with local farmers.”
In January, Agristo announced its plans for a production facility in the US, citing a site in North Dakota as its operational base.
Moreover, the company is expanding its production capacity in Europe to address the rising demand. Preparatory work is currently underway for a new plant in Escaudoeuvres, France, along with developments at its site in Wielsbeke, Belgium.
