Pringles is set to transform its traditional shape in response to the growing demand for convenient, on-the-go snacks. For the first time in nearly two decades, the well-known crisp brand is departing from its iconic cylindrical tube to launch Pringles Minis—miniature versions of its beloved potato crisps, entirely contained in portable snack bags suitable for lunchtime.
These new products will hit prominent supermarket shelves across the UK starting July 2, 2026, available in practical six-pack multipacks (with a retail price of £2.25 for 6 x 20g bags). This significant alteration in packaging is designed to cater to shifting consumer preferences, particularly aimed at busy professionals, families on the run, and those packing school lunches—all seeking convenient portions without compromising on taste.
Creating a diminutive version of one of the most recognizable snacks globally was a challenging endeavor. A dedicated group of food scientists invested over four years, testing more than 50 different structural designs to achieve the perfect rendition of the chip’s famous hyperbolic paraboloid shape—the unique saddle-like curve.
The physics surrounding smaller crisps introduces a distinct challenge: as the size of the chip decreases, its structural integrity weakens. To address this, the developers constructed the new bite-sized crisps with a thicker and sturdier profile, ensuring they remain intact while stored in a backpack, desk drawer, or car glove compartment. Moreover, while traditional Pringles are typically seasoned on one side, the mini variants are enhanced with seasoning on both sides, delivering richer flavor in every bite.
The return of this bite-sized variety comes after a 17-year hiatus, following the discontinuation of an older plastic-tray version from the mid-2000s. The new 2026 launch focuses on a streamlined offering featuring three of the brand’s most popular, non-HFSS (high in fat, sugar, and salt) classic flavors: Original, Sour Cream & Onion, and BBQ.
Beth Brushett, senior brand activation manager at Pringles, shared her insights on why this is an opportune time for the brand to broaden its product line: “Mini products and bite-sized treats are having such a big cultural moment right now, so it felt like the perfect time to launch Pringles Minis. We’ve spent years perfecting a mini version of our iconic crisp that goes in a bag, making it the perfect addition to lunchboxes across the UK.”
As contemporary shopping trends lean increasingly towards portioned snacks that help curb overindulgence, Pringles Minis offer retailers an opportunity to tap into high-margin revenue within the competitive snack market. By adapting an iconic brand into a convenient lunchbox solution, Pringles effectively meets the evolving demands of today’s consumers for food that aligns with their fast-paced lifestyles.
