At interpack 2026, GEA unveiled the PowerPak 5000, a state-of-the-art thermoforming packaging machine tailored for medium-sized food manufacturers.

This innovative solution replaces earlier mid-range models and is designed for processors who seek an optimal balance of efficiency, user-friendliness, and long-term cost effectiveness, rather than simply catering to highly specialised, high-output needs.

The PowerPak 5000 accommodates a wide array of product types, including meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, baked goods, ready meals, and plant-based items. In an environment characterized by frequent production changes and pricing challenges, this machine is engineered to consistently deliver high quality while minimizing unnecessary technical complications.

Several key enhancements have been incorporated into the PowerPak 5000, allowing medium-sized facilities to optimize efficiency without the risks of excessive engineering.

First, the machine offers multi-format capability on a single platform, supporting various packaging types such as Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), vacuum and skin packaging, and steam applications. This adaptability enables manufacturers to efficiently handle various product lines without complications during batch transitions.

In addition, GEA has prioritized digital support and operational simplicity by integrating tools like GEA SmartControl, GEA Changeover Assist, and GEA InsightPartner. These features reduce reliance on highly skilled labor.

Another significant advantage of the PowerPak 5000 is its modular design, which allows for scalability as businesses grow. Manufacturers can integrate advanced technologies as needed, such as the PowerHeat heating system, the PowerLabel modular labeling solution, and the PowerJet, which is an advanced evacuation and gassing system.

The PowerPak 5000 employs GEA’s Kinetic Edge Design, effectively removing unnecessary structural elements and sharp edges to enhance accessibility for cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, the incorporation of lubrication-free bearings and industrial-grade components aims to decrease contamination risks and streamline spare part management.

During the interpack exhibition, GEA showcased the PowerPak 5000 as part of an integrated One-Line Concept. This coordinated setup includes slicing, loading, packaging, and labeling, designed to achieve outputs of up to 600 kg/h. By synchronizing these processes, GEA seeks to offer mid-sized manufacturers a reliable and efficient production workflow that guarantees consistent product quality throughout.
