John Paul Jones Rum (JPJ) has proudly unveiled its inaugural ready-to-drink (RTD) canned cocktail in collaboration with premium beverages company, Double Dutch. This refreshing blend combines JPJ’s renowned dark and dry Lowland Rum with Double Dutch’s invigorating Cucumber and Watermelon mixer. The result is an innovative canned rum experience that is set to revolutionize the market.
With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 4.5%, the creators of this cocktail have deliberately eschewed the conventional sticky flavors, excessive sugars, and harsh spirits typically associated with other canned rum drinks. Instead, they have crafted a fruity, light, and low-calorie summer beverage that is tailor-made for enjoying at BBQ parties, picnics, and social gatherings. It truly exemplifies the modern-day rum drinker’s preferences and aspirations.
Finnian Gill, the founder and head of product at John Paul Jones, expressed his excitement over this “perfect pairing” with Double Dutch and the brand’s foray into the RTD sector. “As companies, we share a spirited and adventurous ethos, and our collaboration blending our seaweed-infused Lowland Rum with their Cucumber and Watermelon mixer challenges the norm,” Gill explained. “Moreover, it has garnered tremendous popularity during its trial runs at various food festivals earlier this summer. The introduction of this ready-to-drink canned cocktail marks yet another milestone for JPJ. In recent months, this innovative rum company has celebrated the debut of its seaweed-infused white rum, Ranger, and its Islay cask-aged rum, Providence. Both these offerings pay homage to naval ships commanded by JPJ’s namesake and inspirational figure – the intrepid Scottish-born naval captain, John Paul Jones.
