Coveris, a prominent name in sustainable flexible packaging on a global scale, has declared a significant investment of €1.8 million across its production facilities in Poland.

This initiative aims to markedly enhance production capabilities, improve operational responsiveness, and introduce innovative functional attributes to its packaging range within the Central and Eastern European (CEE) market.

The investment is strategically targeted at several vital growth areas, such as food, pet food, and personal care products, further establishing Poland as an essential manufacturing center for the organization.

An essential aspect of this expansion is the implementation of a SOMA Proxima high-speed printing press, leveraging cutting-edge flexographic technology. This advanced equipment enables wide web applications to operate at speeds reaching 400 meters per minute.

The company reports that this new addition will boost its annual printing capacity by around 30%, enabling Coveris to deliver quicker turnaround times and consistent quality in print for large-volume demands.

In tandem with the printing enhancements, Coveris is also incorporating a new LEMO bag-making machine, which can generate up to 550 bags per minute. This line specializes in wicketted bags ranging from 230mm to 380mm and is compatible with CPP, LDPE, and HDPE films, offering the necessary scalability to meet seasonal demand spikes, particularly for bakery and fresh produce brands.

In addition to increasing production capabilities, the investment places substantial emphasis on intelligent packaging features. Coveris has integrated laser scoring technology into its stand-up pouches and flat-bottom bags, facilitating clean and easy opening—a critical factor in the highly competitive food and pet food markets, where consumer convenience plays a significant role in brand loyalty.

Christian Kolarik, the CEO of Coveris, highlighted that this investment is a response to the rapidly evolving market landscape.

“Strategic investment in technology is key to how we grow and support our customers,” Kolarik affirmed. “By strengthening our operations in Poland, we are expanding capacity, increasing flexibility, and delivering the speed and quality our customers need to compete.”

By blending high-speed production with improved finishing capabilities, Coveris seeks to reduce lead times and establish a more robust supply chain for its European partners. This recent initiative further emphasizes the company’s commitment to its “No Waste” vision, aiming to optimize production efficiency while providing high-performance, shelf-ready solutions for the CEE region.
