Anglia Crown, the UK division of the foodservice group BonCulina, has entered administration.

Kroll confirmed that they were appointed as administrators by Anglia Crown’s directors on November 10, led by Benjamin Wiles and Robert Armstrong. Notably, Anglia Crown had ceased trading prior to this appointment, according to the statement from Kroll.

In 2023, BonCulina acquired Anglia Crown, a meals manufacturer, without disclosing the financial terms involved. This UK-based company provided meals across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and corporate clients.

Sources indicate that around 130 employees of Anglia Crown were made redundant following the cease of trading.

Benjamin Wiles, a managing director at Kroll, emphasized: “Our immediate priority is to review the position of the business and determine the best possible outcome for all stakeholders.”

Wiles also acknowledged the challenging circumstances for those affected by the administration, assuring that support and guidance would be offered.

In 2023, Anglia Crown marked BonCulina’s second acquisition in the UK, having purchased the hot food vendor Bon Appetit in 2021. This indicated BonCulina’s commitment to expanding in a robust foodservice market.

“Acquiring Anglia Crown was the next logical step for BonCulina,” stated David Garland, the managing director of BonCulina, at the time of the acquisition.

According to the latest accounts from Companies House, Anglia Crown reported sales of £20.2m ($26.4m) for the financial year ending on December 31, 2023, up from £17.7m the previous year. However, EBITDA rose to £350,138 from £206,010, while net profit after tax fell to £105,744 from £650,337.
