Agromousquetaires, a prominent French private-label manufacturer, is strategically placing eight out of its extensive network of over 50 factories on the market.
This initiative aligns with the company’s mission, as it is part of Groupement Mousquetaires, which also includes renowned French retailer Intermarché. Specifically, Agromousquetaires is looking to divest five food processing plants, one beverage facility, and two horticultural units.
Notably, seven of the eight factories available for sale are situated in western France. Currently, Agromousquetaires operates a total of 55 manufacturing plants, a decrease from 56 at the beginning of this year.
Earlier this year, the company sold its ready-meals facility, Sveltic, to what’s Cooking?, a Belgian company. Furthermore, last year, French meat-processing group LDC acquired the Les Délices de Saint Léonard factory located in Morbihan from Agromousquetaires.
The eight factories listed for sale encompass a diverse array of production sites. They include:
- A bread and brioche facility in Joué-lès-Tours
- Two seafood production plants situated in Brittany
- An additional seafood factory in Pas-de-Calais
- Two cut-flower units in western France
- A fruit-juice bottling facility located in Hermes, north of Paris
- The Antarctic rice-to-spices factory in Charmes-sur-Rhône, southern France
Although Agromousquetaires has chosen not to publicly disclose the identities of the factories, they did release a statement emphasizing that this decision is a strategic component of their business model. They noted, “Agromousquetaires is continuing to implement its strategy of refocusing and making significant investments in strategic areas and businesses related to raw and minimally processed products – meat, vegetables, milk, water, etc.”
The statement further conveyed the company’s intentions to bolster its business with a strong emphasis on growth and development, stating, “We will carry out this work with two prerequisites: any buyer’s ability to invest and to develop employment.”
Agromousquetaires primarily produces goods for the broader group’s grocery chains, which include Intermarché and Netto. According to information from the Groupement Mousquetaires website, the Agromousquetaires division generated an impressive turnover of €4.2 billion (approximately $4.55 billion) in 2024.
