The Suffolk police force has joined a nationwide initiative to combat the illegal vape market. Working in collaboration with other government agencies, officers recently conducted visits to six stores in the town, resulting in the removal of over 500 vapes from the shelves. These vapes were found to contain between 2,000 and 10,000 puffs, well above the permissible limit of 10ml, which effectively allows for a maximum of 600 puffs.

In addition to confiscating the illicit vapes, the police also seized more than 200 bottles of alcohol during the raids. Furthermore, one individual was apprehended under the Immigration Act.

Sergeant Dan Peck from Bury St Edmunds police expressed satisfaction with the operation, stressing the detrimental impact of illicit tobacco and alcohol within the local community. These products often contribute to anti-social behavior and other related offenses. Sergeant Peck expressed gratitude to the other agencies involved, lauding the effective partnership that underpins ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of local residents from illegal products.
