Mondi’s WalletPack is a PP based solution optimized for recyclability. This packaging aligns with our customer’s and NPA’s goals as an approved producer responsibility organization dedicated to advancing circular and traceable material recycling.
WalletPack is effectively sorted by Site Zero, Europe’s largest and most advanced plastic recycling facility in Sweden, contributing to a circular economy. It replaces the previous unrecyclable multi-material pack made of PET-PE and PA-PE laminates.
Mondi’s WalletPack features an easy peel mechanism for consumer convenience and offers a protective high oxygen barrier for longer shelf-life, along with inside print for brand communication.
Helene Brynell, regional sales Nordic, consumer flexibles at Mondi, stated: “It was a pleasure working with Scan Sverige, bringing over a century of experience in responsible Swedish food production to the table. Throughout the trial process, we focused on protecting the food while developing sustainable packaging.”
Einar Ahlstrom, material specialist at NPA, added: “Multi-layer laminates limit material recycling in plastic packaging. Scan Sverige’s introduction of a mono-material packaging solution for Pärsons is a positive step towards more efficient recycling.”
Scan Sverige and Mondi collaborated closely over two years to develop the WalletPack solution for Pärsons. Eva Tiedman, category manager at Scan Sverige, stated: “Mondi was the right partner to achieve our sustainability goals, and we’re working towards 100% recyclable packaging by 2025.”
