Key Technology, a leading manufacturer of food processing equipment, has introduced a game-changing integrated hyperspectral sorting system for chilled bacon bits. This innovative system is the first of its kind, combining near infrared (NIR) hyperspectral detection with color cameras to provide more robust data analysis. The system, called Veryx BioPrint, has the ability to detect the tiniest bone fragments and other difficult-to-spot foreign material (FM) and product defects.
With the addition of Key’s vibratory conveyors, this system delivers improved food safety, product quality, and process efficiency. It also helps to maximize yield and reduce labor costs. Jack Lee, President of Key Technology – Americas, notes that Veryx BioPrint provides a sort accuracy that was previously unheard of. This zero-FM and defects system ensures 100% satisfaction for high caliber bacon bit processors who want only the best.
One distinct advantage of this integrated system is that it detects every object’s color, size, shape, structure, chemometric, and biological properties to improve sorting effectiveness. With Key’s Pixel Fusion detection technology, the system combines pixel-level data from hyperspectral sensors and color cameras to produce a unique ‘signature’ associated with each material substance. This enables the Veryx BioPrint to remove the widest variety of hard-to-detect FM and defects accurately without producing any false rejects.
Each bacon bit sorting line is customized by Key to optimize performance and meet the unique production objectives of each customer. Iso-Flo and Impulse vibratory conveyors can be configured to transfer, scalp, size grade, distribute, feed scales, and other processing line equipment.
The system promises to virtually eliminate the need for manual inspection. This decreases labor costs and increases consistency in FM and defect removal. Recipe-driven operation ensures optimal performance every day, without the need for human intervention. A highly-intuitive user interface provides different views to users of various levels, thus simplifying operator training and use.
Key Technology is known for manufacturing equipment in both the USA and Europe and offers support worldwide through its extensive Sales and SupportPro service network. Key also provides essential integration services, from pre-engineering to line start-up.
This new integrated hyperspectral sorting system aligns with the crucial requirements of the food manufacturing sector, ensuring product safety and quality. With its state-of-the-art technology, Key Technology continues to set the pace in the manufacturing sector, delivering innovative, reliable, and cost-effective processing solutions.
