Technosys, a member of the Autopack Group, has successfully assisted a prominent pork scratchings manufacturer in resuming production after a devastating fire at its Midlands facility. The company invested in three A200 vertical form, fill, and seal (VFFS) machines, with Technosys providing essential engineering and project management support to get the first production line operational within a matter of weeks.

In December 2025, the fire posed significant challenges, but Technosys was selected for its specialization in packaging automation as well as its crisis management capabilities. Within a short timeframe, the production line was restored, enabling the client to revive their operations effectively.

The manufacturer produces a variety of pork scratchings and crackling products in different pack sizes and flavors using FFS pillow pack style bags. Additionally, they needed production lines that could accommodate tub packaging, making the project’s layout and integration crucial for a successful recovery.

“This project required a swift response, adaptability, and strong collaboration,” noted Wayne Kedward, Managing Director of Autopack Group. He emphasized the importance of working closely with the client to prepare everything from factory layouts to essential services, allowing for the quick installation and startup of the first line. Despite challenges related to constrained floorspace and height, the team engineered a customized bulk loading system that maximized available space, delivering results that exceeded the client’s expectations.

The A200 VFFS machine operates automatically in either fully electrical or hybrid electrical/pneumatic modes. Its sturdy build and user-friendly operation enhance efficiency and output while minimizing costs and the likelihood of human error. This machine accommodates various bag dimensions ranging from 50 mm to 200 mm in width and 50 mm to 300 mm in length, suitable for multiple packaging styles and heat sealable films. Technosys regards it as the most economical UK-manufactured VFFS option available, boasting a low cost of ownership.

Wayne further stated, “Building partnerships with clients is at the core of what we do. Our goal is to exceed expectations and be present alongside the customer throughout every project phase.”

Located in Gainsborough, Technosys became part of the Autopack Group in 2025 and recently expanded its factory as part of a £3 million investment strategy across Autopack’s operations in the UK.
