PULPUltra comprises over 95% bagasse fibers and features a barrier spray coating, making it an innovative solution for the food and drink industry. This sustainable packaging option is freezer-safe, ensuring that it maintains the integrity of frozen goods, preserves the freshness of perishables, and keeps factory-conditioned items intact.

Designed for versatility, PULPUltra accommodates single PET sealing or multi-welding techniques. Furthermore, it is recyclable under the UK’s Recycling Assessment Methodology (RAM) and complies with the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Notably, it has also received certification as Compostable TÜV OK Compost Industrial, with a home compostable certification announcement expected soon.

Sabert asserts that PULPUltra outperforms existing market alternatives, including laminated products, while ensuring full compliance with stringent legislation. This advancement in food and drink packaging meets the demand for sustainable practices in an increasingly eco-conscious marketplace.

“PULPUltra is a ‘game changing’ next-generation, no-intentionally-added-PFAS formulation that meets legislative standards and customers’ expectations for superior strength and heat resistance,” stated Alex Noake, senior vice president and managing director at Sabert Europe.

In line with current consumer trends, Isabelle Ernotte, Sabert’s quality environment, health & safety manager, emphasized, “Every product we make is rigorously tested to comply with food safety standards. From 12 August 2026, Regulation (EU) No 40/2025 on PPWR introduces new measures, including Article 5(5) paragraph 5, which restricts and introduces limits on the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Often referred to as ‘forever chemicals’ due to their persistence in the environment and the human body, these substances pose a significant challenge to sustainability.” She added, “Sabert’s PULPUltra will help customers to stay ahead of these changes with products that already meet the next generation of sustainability standards.”
