Amcor, a global specialist in responsible packaging solutions, is partnering with Vöslauer Mineralwasser to supply a tethered version of the brand’s bespoke closure for its signature bottle range.

This latest collaboration with one of Austria’s leading mineral water producers highlights the strength of the long-standing relationship between Amcor and Vöslauer. It also reflects a shared focus on advancing packaging that delivers on functionality, inclusivity, sustainability, and premium design.

The newly introduced tethered closure has been engineered to open to a wide angle, where it securely clicks into position. This ensures the cap remains away from the user’s face, enabling a more comfortable and convenient drinking experience. In addition, the closure is designed for ease of reclosing, allowing it to be quickly repositioned on top of the bottle.

Importantly, keeping the cap attached to the bottle aligns with requirements under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which mandates tethered closures for single-use beverage containers up to three litres. This design approach helps minimise littering while also supporting improved collection and recycling rates in regions with established recycling infrastructure.

We appreciate that our customers have high standards and our commitment to quality is as evident in our packaging as it is in our mineral and flavored waters,” said Mag. Yvonne Haider-Lenz of Vöslauer Mineralwasser. “We value our longstanding collaboration with Amcor and the company’s ability to support our ongoing sustainability commitments.”

As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Vöslauer also became the first company in Austria to adopt Amcor’s Secure Flip sports cap. This solution features a non-detachable tamper-evident band that remains integrated within the closure after opening, providing an alternative to traditional detachable tabs that are often discarded.

The Secure Flip cap also incorporates an ergonomically designed thumb tab, allowing for intuitive one-handed operation. It opens to a stable angle of up to 180°, ensuring easy and unobstructed access to the spout.

Closures play a critical role in drinks packaging, protecting the products and ensuring safe and easy access, and in this way can help to influence brand perceptions,” said Sarah de la Mare, product line director for closures at Amcor Rigids Packaging Solutions International. “We are delighted to work with Vöslauer in the continuing development of innovative solutions that support both their product and sustainability goals.”
