Innovative Food and Drink Sustainable Packaging Partnership: Parkside Collaborates with Vegan Chocolate Brand Mummy Meegz

Parkside, a leader in food and drink packaging solutions, has joined forces with Mummy Meegz, a renowned vegan chocolate brand, to introduce a vibrant design featuring their beloved amphibian mascot, Billie. This eye-catching packaging is made from Parkside’s Park2Natureâ„¢ compostable material and is available in two distinct designs to distinguish between their oat milk and white chocolate product lines. Not only is Billie a delightful vegan alternative, but he is also crafted from sustainably sourced chocolate and presented in TÜV-certified home compostable packaging.

“Today’s consumers place great emphasis on sustainability and ethical shopping practices. They want to know how their purchases are produced and packaged,” explained Paul Lenihan, Sales Account Manager at Parkside. “This collaboration with Mummy Meegz addresses the growing demand for sustainable packaging materials.”

The TÜV home compostable certification guarantees that the packaging breaks down completely into biomass, water, and carbon dioxide within 26 weeks in a regular household compost heap and within 12 weeks in a composting facility. Crucially for Mummy Meegz, the packaging disintegrates by 96% in 36 weeks when it enters the sea, facilitating the essential microbial activity needed for full degradation.

Helen Hartley, Managing Director of Mummy Meegz, emphasized the importance of aligning their packaging with the brand’s values. “We strive to demonstrate that chocolate can be absolutely delicious without the need for animal products. At the same time, we are committed to minimizing any potential impact on animals and marine life throughout our packaging’s life cycle. Parkside’s sustainable solutions perfectly align with our vision,” said Helen.

The Park2Nature material used in the packaging is a triplex laminate made primarily from paper, eliminating polylactic acids (PLAs), genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and other substances that could potentially harm the environment.
