MSI Express, a leading US-based food and beverage co-manufacturer, has been acquired by Nonantum Capital Partners from HCI Equity Partners (HCI).
Although the financial details of this transaction remain undisclosed, HCI has described MSI Express as “one of the largest food co-manufacturers” in the United States, offering essential contract manufacturing and packaging services to “leading” food and beverage brands.

In a separate statement, Nonantum managing partner Jon Biotti emphasized that MSI Express is “laser-focused on engineering expertise and client service,” and possesses a “deep knowledge of the food and beverage sector.”

Biotti further noted that MSI Express, with its “strong track record,” is poised for a “bright future.”

Headquartered in Portage, Indiana, MSI Express operates 15 locations across six US states, positioning itself as a key player in the food and beverage packaging industry.

The company offers a comprehensive range of services, including dry food blending and packaging, liquid packaging, and bottle filling. Notably, MSI Express also packages dry pet food and produces vitamins and supplements.

MSI Express originated from the merger of Express Packaging, established in 1988, and Manufacturing Solutions International, founded in 2008.

Co-founder and CEO Charles Weinberg expressed, “We are proud to have grown our business by strategically partnering with the nation’s leading brands. Additionally, we are excited to have the Nonantum team’s support as we continue to scale our business alongside our customers.”

In 2020, MSI Express expanded its operations through the acquisition of Power Packaging, which added four production facilities across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Texas. This strategic move introduced aseptic beverage filling, stick packaging, and filling for jars, cans, and bag-in-box containers.

Moreover, it expanded the company’s portfolio into new food categories, such as powdered beverages, soups, and baking mixes.

The subsequent year, MSI Express further enhanced its operational capabilities by acquiring PacMoore’s contract manufacturing operations in Hammond, Indiana, effectively addressing the growing customer demand in the food and beverage packaging sector.
