Blossom Hill Packing, one of the largest apricot growers in the USA, has unveiled an innovative Linerless pack format, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability and progress in food and drink packaging.

These new packs incorporate Linerless lids, expertly printed by Reflex Group, and are paired with TrayCycle™ trays from Paper, Pulp & Film, which are printed by Superior Litho. This cutting-edge window tray design made its debut during the California Apricot season at major retailers across both the USA and Canada.

A pivotal element in the project’s success is the Ravenwood Nobac 5000 applicator, which efficiently applies the linerless fruit lids at a remarkable rate of over 50 packs per minute. This high-speed automation translates into significant labor savings while maintaining precise, consistent application. Ravenwood’s linerless fruit lids provide a sustainable packaging solution that minimizes material waste, enhances shelf appeal, and eliminates the need for backing paper—streamlining both production processes and recycling efforts.

The TrayCycle™ trays, developed by Paper, Pulp & Film, offer a fiber-based alternative to traditional plastic clamshells, tailored specifically for produce, prepared foods, and foodservice applications. This innovative design combines sustainability and functionality, ensuring they are fully recyclable and PFAS-free, making them a strong contender in the realm of food and drink sustainable packaging.

“We’re proud to support Blossom Hill Packing with a linerless solution that delivers both speed and sustainability. The Nobac 5000 not only reduces labour costs with high-speed automation but also helps set a new benchmark for product visibility and presentation in fresh produce,” stated Tal Cloud, President and Owner of PP&F.

With a custom window design for optimal product visibility, the new linerless pack establishes a high standard for sustainable retail presentation within the North American fresh produce sector. Ravenwood’s linerless labeling technology offers a waste-free solution by entirely removing backing paper. This approach enables high-speed, efficient application while allowing for full-surface branding, making it ideal for modern, environmentally conscious packaging.
