Ishida’s acquisition of National Packaging Systems (NPS) in 2024 is prominently featured at Propak Cape, bringing distinct advantages to the food and non-food sectors across Africa.

At this event, Ishida is set to unveil two innovative products specifically designed for the African market: the Inspira snacks packing system and a stick pack/sachet maker.

Additionally, attendees can explore examples from Ishida’s popular multihead weighers and X-ray inspection systems, as well as three models showcasing NPS’s established filling and packaging solutions.

Located in Kwa-Zulu Natal, NPS has established itself as a leading provider of high-performance filling and packaging solutions for over four decades.

Melika Seiderer, Ishida’s General Manager for Africa, stated, “Through our acquisition of NPS, African food and non-food enterprises now have improved access to top-tier automation solutions!”

She elaborated, “The extensive range of our combined portfolio empowers businesses of all sizes to streamline their packaging operations, resulting in increased throughput, enhanced efficiency, improved quality and reliability, as well as stronger support.”

Among the key products from NPS on display are:

The 34S Vertical Form, Fill & Seal (VFFS) bagmaker, known for its durability and efficiency, can be customized for various filling needs across a wide range of materials and formats.

The multilane Vertical Sachet machine enhances productivity by packaging multiple sachets at once. With servo-driven auger fillers positioned above, it ensures precise and consistent weight control for exceptional accuracy.

The semi-automatic A1 Auger Filler for powders guarantees reliable dosing and consistent flow for items like milk powder, soups, spices, and more.

Finally, the semi-automatic Basculating Volumetric Filler caters to both liquids and solids, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reliable filling with consistent portion control.

Ishida’s multihead weighers featured at the event include:

The 10-head CHW multihead, which is ideal for businesses aiming to expand capacity and leverage automation benefits. It efficiently handles a variety of free-flowing products—including snacks, confectionery, cereals, and pasta—at speeds of up to 70 packs per minute.

Also showcased is Ishida’s premium CCW-AS multihead weigher, enabling manufacturers to achieve remarkable weighing speeds while ensuring accuracy and consistency. This system assists food companies in minimizing waste, boosting output, and enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), all while reducing energy consumption by 20%.

The Ishida Inspira iTPS Snack Food Packing System focuses on offering snack manufacturers significant advantages, providing the fastest, most accurate, and compact packing system in Africa. It operates at speeds of 160 bags per minute for extruded snacks and 120 bags for potato chips, maximizing efficiency and minimizing waste.

Ishida’s X-ray inspection systems play a crucial role in ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance, safeguarding consumers and brands alike. The IX-EN-4093-S model, on display, is a high-performance entry-level solution for foreign body detection and quality control. It effectively identifies various contaminants—such as glass, stones, and plastic—at impressive inspection speeds. The IX-EN employs advanced Genetic Algorithm (GA) technology, allowing operators to fine-tune the machine for specific foreign bodies and even detect damaged or missing products.

Melika Seiderer remarked, “Our involvement in Propak Africa 2025 presents an invaluable opportunity to highlight our expanding footprint in Africa and underline Ishida’s commitment to supporting the growth of local food and non-food manufacturers. We eagerly anticipate discussions with attendees about their challenges and growth strategies, aligning them with our wide range of equipment to automate packaging processes, enhance revenue, and lower costs.”

The exhibition is scheduled for October 27-29 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CICC), where Ishida and NPS will be located at stand D1 in Hall 1.
