Groupe St-Hubert, based in Canada, is making significant investments in its food manufacturing division.

On April 9, the company outlined its capital expenditure (capex) plans, which encompass both food production and restaurant operations.

In its announcement, Groupe St-Hubert emphasized that it will implement “massive investments” in its food manufacturing facilities located in the Montreal suburbs of Blainville and Boisbriand.

The investment will exceed C$11 million, aimed at enhancing production lines and modernizing equipment at these factories.

Known for producing and distributing food products under the St-Hubert brand, the company also manages 26 additional brands.

The company stated, “This sector is booming, as this year alone the company plans to launch 27 new products under the St-Hubert brand and 63 new products under other brands.”

Furthermore, Groupe St-Hubert plans to allocate C$650,000 towards the construction of a new Research & Development (R&D) center in Boisbriand, with completion expected this year.

In addition, the restaurant division will receive approximately C$40 million for investments in its outlets.

The group plans to renovate over 20 restaurants in Quebec and open nine more by 2026, expanding its footprint in the region.

Currently, Groupe St-Hubert operates 121 restaurants, with 90% located in Quebec and the remainder in Ontario and New Brunswick. Its franchise network consists of 91 franchisees.

The company concluded, “These financial commitments will consolidate the famous chain’s position of leadership in the food industry, in the areas both of restaurants and of grocery products.”

It is worth noting that Groupe St-Hubert was acquired by Canadian restaurant group Cara Operations in 2016.
