Tabasco Sauce Owner McIlhenny Hires New CEO from Nestlé Nestlé Food and Beverage Business

McIlhenny Company, renowned for its iconic Tabasco sauce within the food and beverage industry, recently appointed Adam Graves, a seasoned executive from Nestlé, as its new CEO. This decision marks a significant shift as Graves takes over from Harold Osborn, who concluded a commendable 25-year tenure with the family-owned business—including five years as CEO.

According to a statement made on February 2, McIlhenny Company highlighted Graves’ “proven track record” in expanding brands within the consumer-packaged goods sector. Having joined the company on January 26, he brings with him 20 years of experience at Nestlé, with various roles spanning the Americas.

Prior to this role, Graves served as president of Nestlé’s pizza and snacking division in the U.S., overseeing recognizable brands like DiGiorno, Tombstone, and Hot Pockets. His earlier career also includes leadership positions such as president of Nestlé Waters Canada and general manager at Purina Pet Care Latin America.

Christian Brown, executive chairman of McIlhenny Company, commented, “Adam’s success in leading major powerhouse food brands and his commitment to building high-performing teams inside a culture of innovation and collaboration make him an ideal choice to lead McIlhenny Company at this exciting juncture.”

Founded in 1868 by Edmund McIlhenny on Avery Island, Louisiana, McIlhenny Company has maintained a reputation for excellence but traditionally does not disclose its financial performance or turnover.

Reflecting on his new position, Graves stated, “Leading McIlhenny Company and the iconic Tabasco brand is the role of a lifetime. The brand’s 158 years of experience defining the hot sauce category, inspiring consumer connection, and unmatched global footprint, in conjunction with the company’s long history of prioritizing its incredible team and unique culture, makes this the most exciting opportunity of my career.”

In conclusion, this leadership change comes at a pivotal moment as McIlhenny Company navigates evolving food and drink consumer trends. As industry dynamics shift, the company’s focus on innovation and team-centric values positions it to adapt successfully to the ever-changing landscape of the food and drink business.
