Ferrero is taking significant strides to enhance its breakfast offerings with the purchase of Purely Elizabeth, a US-based food company.

Details regarding the financial aspect of the acquisition have not been revealed.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Colorado, Purely Elizabeth specializes in breakfast items, offering a range of granola, oatmeal, and cereal products.

This acquisition comes on the heels of Ferrero’s $3.1 billion takeover of WK Kellogg last year, which integrated notable brands such as Froot Loops and Raisin Bran into its portfolio.

In a recent announcement made on August 14, Ferrero, known for its Nutella brand, expressed its intent to foster Purely Elizabeth’s growth trajectory by bolstering product innovation, enhancing operational efficiencies, and broadening distribution channels.

Lapo Civiletti, who assumed the role of president for Ferrero Ice Cream and WK Kellogg in March following a management restructuring, noted that Purely Elizabeth perfectly aligns with Ferrero’s strategic goals.

“This acquisition reflects our long-term strategy to invest in high-growth categories and further enhance our presence in the better-for-you offerings across breakfast occasions and beyond,” Civiletti emphasized.

Ferrero anticipates finalizing the transaction within the upcoming months, contingent upon customary closing requirements and necessary regulatory endorsements.

Elizabeth Stein, the founder and CEO of Purely Elizabeth, will continue to lead the Boulder-based firm alongside its current leadership team.

“In Ferrero, we’ve discovered a family-owned company that deeply values our achievements and recognizes the significant potential ahead,” Stein remarked.

Earlier this year, Ferrero entered into an agreement to acquire Bold Snacks, a Brazilian producer of protein bars, marking its entry into the better-for-you sector in South America.

Additionally, last year Ferrero bought Power Crunch, a California-based protein snacks manufacturer.

Most recently, the company unveiled plans to invest $86 million in a manufacturing facility located in Guanajuato, Mexico, aimed at increasing production capacity and enhancing export capabilities from that site. The investment will include upgrades to boost Nutella production at the facility.
